All have a rich history within the communities they serve, well-known for their role in providing tertiary care, or their emerging presence in specialty care. They are dedicated to achieving medical excellence through constant assessment of the needs in their communities and an investment in people, capacity and innovative new treatments and technology.

Core to the mission the hospitals share is a commitment to care for the poor and disenfranchised, and to improve the overall health and well-being of the region. The hospitals demonstrate this commitment daily, dedicating community benefit resources and efforts to serve those most vulnerable, reduce health disparities and promote positive health improvements across the region. Increasing access to care remains a top priority, now more than ever in a volatile economic environment reeling from government cuts in health services. The hospitals have a unique role on the frontline as part of the region's safety net system, operating free and low-cost clinics that meet the primary healthcare needs of thousands of uninsured and underinsured individuals, families and children.
