For more than 150 years, the Sisters of Mercy have worked tirelessly to meet the needs of the Sacramento community. Their tradition of compassion and excellence continues through the exceptional care provided by the Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute. |
Growing to meet community need To continue meeting the community's need for advanced cardiac care, Mercy is building the Alex G. Spanos Heart & Vascular Center, now under construction at Mercy General Hospital. The center is made possible by a generous gift from Sacramento-area philanthropist and businessman - and former Mercy patient - Alex G. Spanos.
Building on a legacy of proven excellence and compassionate care, the center will address growing community needs and integrate even more innovations into Mercy's heart and vascular program.
Key components of the 123,000 square-foot, four-story facility are:
-
Four state-of-the-art cardiac surgery operating rooms
-
Innovative hybrid operating room
-
Expansion capability for two additional cardiac catheterization labs
-
Highly advanced 20-bed cardiac surgery intensive care unit
-
Seventy-one private, family-friendly patient rooms
-
Expanded 21-bed cardiac ambulatory procedure area
-
Integrated Cardiac and Pulmonary Rehabilitation Pavilion
-
State-of-the-art cardiopulmonary care area
-
New chapel, lobby and main entrance to Mercy General Hospital, a healing garden and dedicated space for future emergency department expansion
