At Mercy Neurological Institute of Greater Sacramento, we strive to provide rehabilitative care in an environment that encourages recovery, independence and a positive sense of well-being.
Our neurological rehabilitation team works with patients to set goals and develop an individual treatment program to help them learn self-advocacy, responsibility and self-management. We have the largest acute rehabilitation program in Sacramento, and we are one of only four California demonstration projects for rehabilitative treatment of traumatic head injury.
Mercy offers rehabilitation options to fit in with any patient's need. Our rehabilitation programs include:
- Acute in-patient rehabilitation - an intense interdisciplinary education and training program for patients following stroke, head injury, spinal cord injury, major multiple trauma and other disabling conditions
- Subacute rehabilitation - for patients requiring less intensive care than acute rehabilitation. Programs focus on orthopedic, neurological and wound care therapy
- Home health services - designed to assist patients who are ready to leave the hospital, but do not yet have the endurance to participate in outpatient treatment
- Outpatient rehabilitation - including orthopedic physical therapy for spine care and sports injuries; injured worker rehabilitation; hand and wrist therapy; stroke and neurologic rehabilitation, including Constraint Induced Movement Therapy (CIMT) and Suspension Treadmill Gait Refinement Program; fall risk reduction program; traumatic brain injury rehabilitation; vestibular rehabilitation; and aquatic and wellness programs
- Occupational rehabilitation by our professional team of physical and occupational therapists - this program provides comprehensive treatment for work-related injuries, with the ultimate goal of returning each patient to work as soon as possible with the knowledge and skills they need to prevent re-injury
Mercy also has a physical therapy clinic at the Midtown location of Mercy Medical Group, as service of CHW Medical Foundation, which features special clinic programs ranging from back and neck dysfunction to joint repairs, and replacements to pre-employment screenings.
