Mercy Heart & Vascular Institute offers patients live 3-D Echocardiography technology by Philips, enabling physicians to quickly and easily visualize complex cardiac anatomy that was previously concealed during traditional echo exams.

This technology is especially important for use in conjunction with our advanced minimally invasive valve procedures, allowing for improved precision and accuracy.

How does it work?  3-D echocardiography grew out of existing 2-D techniques and uses many of the same tools. By tracking the size, shape, and position of heart structures in dozens of imaging planes aligned in 3-D via common reference points, this new technology can reconstruct the entire heart as a solid object with accurate representation of its shape and anatomy.

The 3-dimensional reconstructions provided by this technology provides your physician with a more accurate image of not only the size, shape and function of your heart's various structures, but also of the spatial and dynamic relationship between them.

What are the benefits?  Philips Live 3-D Echocardiography offers many benefits, including:
  • Improved views of valvular function
  • Better assessment of complex anatomic features
  • Better assessment of heart function
  • Improved catheter visualization in 3-D space
  • Visualization of anatomy outside of the standard 2-D view

Talk to your doctor about whether 3-D Echocardiography may be an option for you.
